I was tasked with modifying an existing chest they had to more closely resemble a steamer trunk.
Started by removing the original lid, and adding new wood strips.
Paint it all black; making sure to get top few inches of the interior so it doesn’t look unfinished when opened.
Paint all the hardware and accent pieces gold. The googly eyes will be used as faux nails.
Add a handle, and staple down some leather straps.
Make a new fake latch, and put it all together.
